About Us

Environment Policy

We recognise that concern for the environment and the communities in which we operate should be an integral and fundamental part of our own business and all organisations and businesses.

Movie Makers is aware of the impact of our daily operations on the environment. Our objective is to balance the need to achieve our undertakings to our customers whilst being careful of our environmental output. Along with our customers and colleagues throughout the industry, we strive to achieve an environmentally responsible Film & TV Industry.

Scope

Considering the purpose and context of the organisation and the condition of the environment in which the company operates, the management of Movie Makers is committed to the continualimprovement of our environmental management, according to legal and other regulatory and compliance obligations.

We have identified the following business segments as having the most significant potential for a negative environmental impact on emissions output and material resource use. As such, we have prioritised these in our approach to environmental management.

  • Direct and indirect use of non-renewable carbon fuels in transporting our fleet of approx. 600 primarily towable trailers, tractor units and technical vehicles
  • Fitting out our fleet to meet the needs of our customers, requiring the use of scarce/non-renewable raw materials
  • Cleaning and maintaining the fleet. This is water-intensive and has the potential for toxic chemical outputs that can negatively impact the environment, biodiversity, and our staff's health
  • Energy use for general business operations.

All employees of Movie Makers are acting to protect the environment by preventing and eliminating waste and emissions through:

  • Continual education of our team, suppliers, and customers to prevent pollution, preserve natural resources and improve environmental management procedures, by raising environmental awareness
  • Exploring new materials with smaller environmental footprints and improving hazardous waste management
  • Decrease non-renewable energy consumption across all our sites and operations and replacements with renewable energy sources
  • Activities that emerge from the context of the organisation
  • Following environmental procedures to decrease environmental pollution and prevent degradation and damage to the environment through our operations
  • Decrease of adverse impact on water, soil, air, and biodiversity.

To this end, we have already taken the following steps - and further outline additional targets we aim to achieve and report on within 12 months.

  • In 2020 we upgraded all our tractor units to meet the Euro 6 Emissions Standards. We are committed to regularly upgrading our fleet to ensure the most fuel-efficient vehicles and the most up to date technologies
  • In 2021, we upgraded our fleet on (tractor mounted) generators, which meet the current emission standards. The manufacturers of our tractor units have confirmed that they can safely run on HVO and HVO+. Furthermore, we service our units and technical trucks every 12 weeks, ensuring they are running at their optimum and most efficient, reducing fuel consumption, CO2e emissions, and particulate matter
  • We prioritise using the most fuel-efficient routes to deliver our vehicles to location
  • We reduce material resource use in our trailer and tractor workshops by reusing parts so long as it's safe to do so. Where we must provide new parts or products, we first consider the use of reconditioned parts, the raw materials used, and wherever possible, using recycled and recyclable products. We have also reduced our reliance on printing since 2019
  • We prioritise repairing any furniture in our trailers, and when they are no longer fit for purposes, the materials are repurposed onsite
  • We have a recycling programme in our offices and workshops, where cardboards, metals and plastics are separated and removed from the site for recycling. We are committed to further reducing our waste and removing all single-use plastics across the business
  • By 1 June 2022, all cleaning products used in our offices, workshops, and to clean our units meet the highest standards of human and environmental safety while still ensuring we meet our COVID-19 cleaning commitments.
